Natasha Kai to appear on “L.A. Ink”

By Dave Reardon

Talk about a perfect fit. The Queen of UH soccer and gold medal Olympian said she will be leaving Tuesday for television taping of Tattoo No. 21 (No. 20 is a work in progress, on her left upper arm), by Kat Von D, star of the show and owner of the shop featured in the reality show. Kai played in the alumni game last night. Didn’t score, but signed plenty of autographs and posed for lots of photos. She definitely has “it” when it comes to charisma. One of the most unique people you will ever meet. Here are some quotes from a pregame interview with her that didn’t make it into my column in today’s paper. “Overall it’s great to come back and play here, there’s a lot of memories on this field.”  She said she was nervous, even for the alumni game, the friendliest of friendlies.

“I always get nervous, but I always hide it.”

Regarding winning Olympic gold:

“I’m still on Cloud Nine about it, still on a high about it. It’s overwhelming and awesome. I have to look at the gold medal everyday. It reminds me of all the hard work.”

In preparation for the pro draft, the players got to fill out a wish list of three teams. She said New Jersey was her first choice.

“I got drafted by my No. 1 pick.  Just something different, there’s a city, I have some friends up there.”

““We’ve been working on a lot of things for the next year. There’s a few things in the making.”

“I’m flying up on Tuesday to film L.A. Ink.”

Going to get tattooed by Kat Von D

“She’s someone I look up to as a strong female dominating in a traditionally male environment.”
