A suggestion for the Sports Section in the paper … when it lists the Radio & TV listings for the times of games … should probably start including “online streaming”?
… just a thought
good suggestion.
Radio and tv for the Japan match?
Not that I know of. kind of doubt it.
BTW, roster is Long instead of Lelepali. so 13. Hartong, Croson, Goodman, Uiato, Adolpho, Longo, Vorster, Kastl, Hagins, Tuaniga, Maeda, Stauber, Long,
Avatar! Good luck Ginger!
Wow! I am kind of shocked that Ginger got on instead of Courtney. Does that mean Ginger will be serving for the middles all the time on this road trip?
That appears to be the plan. I know Shoji’s been working with her back row. and she’s played some left.
Cindy, I think he’s thinking libro. She’ll serve for someone else and possibly Goodman or Kastl.
And a DS can attack although Emily M. doesn’t so maybe her spot, too. But that doesn’t eliminate using her at left side against certain teams and moving Emily H. to right to get a bigger block and more bang in the lineup, too. Can’t remember a Wahine team with so much firepower and am hoping it works and can’t wait to see it at the Stan. Plus another local girl bringing the heat. This will be worth waiting for, I know it.
Yay Ginger! I suspect it came down to adding the “option” of a backrow attack from a DS. Lelepali is very good backrow player, Ginger does provide additional offense while playing backrow.
Highly agree! And adds another dimension to 3 rotations. One more angle for Coach Dave to throw at defensive schemes. And why not break it in on the road? Three big reasons: 1) hasn’t been seen in games so not scouted or in opponents plan; 2) if it works, which I’m sure it will, then Wahine fans will be droolin’ to check it out for themselves when they get back; and the two losses came without this new offensive twist.
It would be far more surprising if a scholie player is left back over a walk-on.
Ginger is going to surprise given the chance. Her nickname in HS was Avatar for her quickness covering the back. By her junior year, who knows she may work out to be the libero after Longo.
Hopefully she does develop into a libero. Because HS is very different from Div I college. I think it says something that Olevao had already moved ahead of Long at OH, even though Long had already spent a year with the team. Actually, I’m surprised she went instead of Lelepali. Lelepali has always gone on serving runs in almost all matches, Long has hardly seen the court.
Dont like this lelepali serve is more reliable and tougher, last time Ginger had many service errors.
On this Courtney, Ginger discussion, it’s Shoji’s decision and I believe he knows better than all of us.
Not sure if he’d look at Long as a libero. i do think that she has some fire power from the back row and if they end up in the 6-2 it gives them a fourth attacker from the BR.
A couple of things to consider
Shoji has alternated players on road trips so it might be Long this time, Lelepali the next.
Also there could be some academic conflict that keeps a player staying iback in school.
