Awful draw…can they beat UW at UW?
We lost to them in 2010 2nd round
Time for revenge!
At that time their incentive to win was far stronger as they were also the regional hosts and certainly they wanted to be there to host it. I actually expected them to win then. Now, both teams would have to fight for a slot in the Nebraska regional. Still, Washington has the home court advantage though they recently lost at home to Arizona State. True, Krista Vansant, their star player was out with an ankle sprain but I expect her to be back strong next Saturday. Watch out for her.
Screwed again…..WTH
Doesnt look like avca and pablo was utilize at all
The only thing they look at is how to screw over the wahine once again
Agreed
This is the reason that they don’t tell us the last week of competition RPI. That way they can do their dirty work.
Also obvious that they didn’t consider the poll.
RPI is showing 17 today
…and look at the CUPCAKES for Penn St…and who do they interview: Russ Rose…
Bias? I think is…
Penn State with yet another cake walk to the Final Four…
I knew they wouldn’t consider the coaches poll
they said they were going to. but the WCC getting 6 teams in is a joke.
Liars!
How much teams did Big West get? WAC?
1 each
I have searched and searched the NCAA committee’s statements on NCAA.com and cannot find any statement that says the selection committee will consider the polls in seeding teams this year. I know there’s that anonymous VT statement, but nothing official. Can you or anyone else print the link that officially shows the NCAA committee is/was considering polls this year?
As for the WCC receiving 6 berths, as I posted on my comments about the WCC on my list of how UH’s non-conference opponents did in their respective conference, at that time the RPI showed the WCC with 6 teams in the top 50 RPI. San Francisco was not one of them, but St. Mary’s was. I assumed that the NCAA would award the WCC with 6 berths into the tournament in lieu of BYU hosting a subregional, but I was wrong. It not only got the cake, it got the icing on the cake as well.
there is no publicly available link to the NCAA Championship manual. the poster who discussed it on VT mentioned that the manual is accessible behind a login wall. the poster did quote excerpts from the manual though.
but take that for what it’s worth.
This is soo disturbing it’s like they are trying to make their road to a national championship even easier than the Penn State men.
This is a friggin joke!! Kentucky seeded over UH???
So true
Remember what happened the last time the Wahine went to UW, for Tournament action. Swept in 3 sets, looked extremely bad. To get to the Final Four, the Wahine will have to get by, Santa Clara, Washington, Oregon, and Nebraska. Thought last year was bad, but this year is even worse.
They are all beatable teams, though, Wahine just need to use this HUGE diss as motivation. Earn respect!!
i agree — all the teams in Hawaii’s path are beatable.
it’s tough to compare this year to 2010 (as a poster above did). that 2010 for some reason lost its mojo late in the season … remember them getting swept by utah st in the final of the WAC tourney? ….
i think this year’s team is entirely different … and they can use this snub by the committee as motivation!
Louisville is 10th seed? I guess hosting gives you a boost in RPI…
minnesota the 8th seed?
werent they the team that lost to michigan & michigan st. back-to-back?
Florida state, minnesota and kentucky. penn state will be in the final four.
I just remembered that Washington’s main hitter Krista Vansant has been out the last few matches due to an ankle injury. If she is still out, Hawaii will have an advantage!
Positive thinking….like that…..
When was the last time she played?
The last match she played was on November 16th against Oregon where they won 3-2. Since then they went 2-1 and were upset by Arizona State
She hasn’t played in the last 2 matches last week due to sever ankle injury. Suppose to be available this week though.
the UW fans (on VT) are saying she’s started practicing … and will be ready this weekend.
but who knows if she really will be … and if she is, whether she’ll be 100 percent.
ACC with 4 teams is a worst joke than wcc
Disagree. They had 3 certains — Florida State (automatic), Miami (Florida), and North Carolina. Bubble was North Carolina State, which got in.
My joke is the SEC with 5! #14-seed Florida (automatic) and Tennessee are easy picks. I am also ok with TexasA&M, which won the SEC Western Division (weaker of the two divisions).
But Kentucky as the #16 seed? It was one of the bubble teams and would have been happy to be selected to the 64-field tournament. But 1 of the 16 subregionals?!
And Arkansas of the weak Western Division? Someone on the NCAA committee had too much turkey. Or razorback.
Penn St. will not be challenged until they get to the Final Four. Russ Rose’s record is a big joke. Just once I would like to see Penn St, come out west, see how they do. Penn St. will not lose a set until they get to the Final Four, with all the cupcakes they will face in the Tournament.
wow unreal…no seed for Hawaii…definitely a dangerous unseeded team
This is vball not bball lol
nebraska 4th seed over oregon?
whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat?
How did UNI get an at-large? Unbelievable!
Omaha regional definitely the toughest. Oregon, BYU, Washington AND Nebraska!?
LETS BE THE FIRST EVER UNSEEDED TEAM TO WIN THE NATIONAL TITLE!
YES!
great way to look @ it …..
Well Wahines…..Let’s prove the RPI wrong and take this sorry poll and spank them. Be alert and ready!
At least Karissa Cook for Stanford feels for us. She tweeted “Shocked Hawaii got no love. Stoked to be in the cal regional.”
Wonder how pissed Dave is
very
Cindy have always said that the NCAA loves the SEC and this definitely shows, when they seeded Kentucky, an unranked, 10 loss, #19 RPI team to host. The NCAA’s seeding thinking will never ever change. The road is tougher, but to be the best you have to beat the best. Prepare them well coaches, and leave it all on the court ladies!!!
UH’s #17 RPI as of today is the NCAA selection committee’s excuse for not seeding Hawaii.
Then what’s the excuse for seeding the Nos. 18 & 19 RPI teams?
Biased rewards west of the rockies.
EAST, was standing on my head like the committee.
Hi Cindy, Any word if the Washington regionals will be televised, or can be watched on any of the ESPN, PAC 12 or Big West sites?
have not heard about TV yet.
I hope Penn State gets knocked off.
They could. They got a brutal first two rounds
For whatever reason we were not allowed to host, so be it. Maybe it is because it is difficult for family and friends and schools to come over to cheer vs. UH’s home fans. But, if that is so, then just tell us. Don’t get our hopes up.
It has nothing to do with a team’s fan base. or their families coming over to watch.
