    hey Cindy,

not sure if you’ve read it – but there’s a blog by Bo Rottenborn on the tournament on NCAA.com – and from a view of it, it just confirms that RPI was the only factor used in setting up this mess.

Not only do the wahine need video of the UNM vs. NMSU match, but for later – Minnesota swept Illinois earlier this week.

    Interesting list
Why are there two from Wisconin. I know one is from Madison but what would they say if one was from UH and one from UH hilo? Looks kinda fishy

Are these all volleyball people? Or just administrators?

Thanks Bobby. I’ll check it out. Sad if they were that lazy. but if they only used the RPI, Hawaii wouldn’t have been seeded.
Here’s the link to the championship manual with selection guidlines

If people contact the selection committee…I hope they are tactful and courteous. It won’t help us next year if we are in their face and get dirty.

This is a statement from a NCAA Committee member:

“It is important to note that the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) coaches’ poll is not considered for selection purposes and sometimes is the reason for misunderstanding.”

Then where do we get the PRI outcomes? From what equation is the RPI based? Let’s be real about this, you can’t use the AVCA poll like selective hearing. So you are saying that the RPI is a better judge of teams than the coaches that actually coach the sport? The truth is…the so called RPI would be accurate only if every team were to play each other. And you can take that to the well. They definitely missed the bus on this one.
Where is the incentive to win matches when you are exempt from that very process when your geographically handicapped as Hawaii appears to be. Hawaii should not be burdened year after year because the NCAA wants to give breaks to colleges that can’t afford to go to the rightfully deserved schools. If they can’t go, don’t. It’s not like you the NCAA can guarantee that because you can’t afford to go to Hawaii(because you are the lower seed) it’s okay…we’ll just have Hawaii go to Wisconsin or Colorado State even-though Hawaii is a higher seed.. . Wait a minute…that is what happened.
    Shameful,
    Plain and Simple

it would have been very easy with the ‘one flight rule’ to send USC, UCSB and Long Beach State to Hawaii. NCAA makes at least a $100,000 profit and there would have been plenty of rooms in Waikiki (unlike LA)

SpamWorld. I thought it odd too. since UW’s main campus is Madison. I had cut and pasted from VT. perhaps VT was in error (gasp)
