Update on Simmons to Louisville

Thanks to DM who posted earlier off of RichKern.com. Rich said he had confirmed it with Amanda Simmons’ club coach that the middle blocker will be with Louisville this season. Best of luck to the very nice young woman.

Hi Cindy,
Any chance Mandy Nichols from Purdue will transfer to Hawaii? I heard she left the team last month. She’s a 6′3″ OH and only a freshman. I’m sure Coach Shoji knows about her status. I think Mandy is an excellent replacement for Amanda Simmons. What do you think?

Of course I wish Simmons all the best. Still, I was looking forward to seeing her play in the upcoming season. Oh well…

From Amanda’s mom ….Greetings and Happy New Year!
Yes, it is true Amanda did transfer to the University of Louisville in Kentucky. She thanks all of the Hawaii fans for all of their kindness and Ohana spirit during her 2 years there. She wanted to be closer to her family and friends but she sincerely appreciates the awesome experience at the University of Hawaii and I do too.

I, like many fans here was looking forward to seeing Amanda play for the Bows for 4 years. But I guess that won’t be. I do hope though, both coaches for Hawaii and Louisville can schedule a match against each other on Hawaii’s Senior Night, so Amanda can still receive a Hawaii style Senior send off! Until then, enjoy your new home, Amanda!
