Sunday’s SB
By Dave Reardon
This is the slowest time of year for us in local sports, and a lot of us take vacation. That means fewer stories in the paper, especially about UH sports. Not tomorrow, though. Jason Kaneshiro has a wrap-up of the UH sports year, with a timeline, Brian McInnis wrote an update on Janevia Taylor one year after the car accident that put her in a coma, and Billy Hull handled the weekly UH football feature, profiling David Veikune. All good reads.

Agreed, surprisingly good sports stuff in the SB for this time of year. Nice column as well, Dave. You should write that more often!

nice read on veikune from hull. sb is definitely better reading for warrior leaders. summer football kids camps next month then fall camp in august. can’t wait to hear that catoosh sound again. go warriors!

Yep. Definitely the slowest time of the year.
Dave - I kinda thing the status of the WAC would be a good subject to write about one of these days.
Questions
1. Are the WAC Presidents happy with Benson? If so, Why? Accomplishes?
2. Is it feasible to have a Group like the Leigh Steinberg Group take the reins of the WAC instead of an individual? Outside da box.
3. Would the UH President support somebody like Bob Hogue as WAC Commissioner?
4. The status of the upcoming ESPN contract? Expires after the 2009/10 season.
5. Is the WAC making head-way in gaining a decent “Regional” TV contract with…FSN? Didn’t Leigh Steinberg accomplish this feat for the Warriors awhile back?
6. What’s the WAC doing to gain the Emerald Bowl in 2010?
Things many UH fans may be interested in.

great story on Taylor. i really hope she does snap out of that coma. it must really be tough on her family and friends. she always was the fireplug on the team when they needed her.
