Texans cut RGM … Big deal for Leo Goeas
By Dave Reardon
Tough break for Ryan Grice-Mullins who never got to show his stuff in OTAs due to injury.

Leo Goeas is proving there’s life after playing in at UH and in the NFL — as a player agent.
Goeas completed what amounts to a benchmark deal for his five-year-old business when he secured a five-year, $30.3 million ($8.5 million guaranteed) contract extension for Bengals defensive tackle Domata Peko (you remember him as a guy UH recruited, but lost out to Michigan State).
What makes this a key deal for Goeas is that it is his first veteran signing.
Goeas also represents several former UH players, including Dolphins starting center Samson Satele.

Would’ve love see him in the Swamp in August. Not to mention we really could have used him against Fresno, Boise, WSU and Cincinatti. Good luck to RGM in all of his future endeavors.

I disagree. Hindsight is 20/20. He did great in terms of showcasing his NFL speed & strength. It’s amazing that none of the WRs from UH were drafted; they were all worthy.
It was just his bad luck to be injured & unable to show what he had.
I hope he can latch on with another team when he’s well.

Man why r some of these football fans so bitter? RGM didn’t know if any of the coaches would come back, Colt was gone and he already put up the best numbers that he could in three years when he decided to leave. He was one of the best WRs in Hawaii history and represented the program with class and respect. How bout we support our fellow players just like we should support our former coaches. These guys just gave us the best three year span in Warrior football history and we should treat them so.

Hawaii, typical knee jerk comment.
Everyone makes decisions during our lifetime and whether its good or bad, live with it.
It’s unfortunate RGM got hurt and couldn’t participate in any OTA’s. It wouldn’t happen to a drafted player to get cut but that’s life in the NFL. If the receiver’s going into camp stink, I think it may re-open the door for RGM to get another shot with the Texans.
If not, there’s always the CFL, AFL, etc. to stay in shape and show his stuff with the scouts. I’m sure JJ will continue to talk him up and try to get him another tryout with another team.

Dave, what kind of leg injury did Ryan have?

With all the uncertainty last January–JJ leaving, new coaching staff and Colt leaving–it was natural for RGM to leave. Hindsight is always 20/20. At that time, it seemed as though RGM made a good decision. Would it have been better for him to finish his final season at UH and would that have improved his stock in the NFL draft? With what we know now–the current coaching staff, etc.–most likely “yes,” it would have been. But that is because of what we know now. RGM had to make a decision with what he knew back then and it was the best decision for him based on what he knew. Let us support RGM and all the other guys. They poured their hearts into the program. There is still hope for RGM to hook on with the right team. If not, there is the CFL or Arena Football. Whatever the case, let us wish these guys the best!!!

It was a tough draft year for WRs and there was a log jam in the middle rounds where I think Rivers, RGM would have normally gone. Lack of elite WRs overall squeezed them out.
With the climate at UH at the time, RGM had little choice but to take a shot. Hope he catches on somewhere else.

Congrats to LEO for his hard work on getting PEKO a great deal that should secure him financially for a long time. It feels good to see Polynesians taking care of other Polynesians. Can’t wait to see what LEO can do for SAMSON!!!!
Once RGM gets healthy he will be on a NFL roster. His talent will not get unnoticed and his work ethic will not allow him to give up!!! The WARRIOR NATION supports you!!
