Not sure why Leahey not here but Howard D is along side Chris McLachlin.
Looking like LIsa Strand Ma’a and Kevin Wong on the other side of OC’s broadcast.
Wahine starters Adolpho, Hartong, Uitao, Maeda, Croson, Vorster, Longo.

    • menehune September 30, 2012 at 2:55 am

Chris mentioned that Chuck was being honored by Campbell High School as Best Teacher for the last 50 years.

  • kaleiboy September 29, 2012 at 7:06 pm

Also can watch live on UH PPV Streaming……FREE!

  • Cindy Luis September 29, 2012 at 7:07 pm

Good rally to start. Longo covered the dumpshot. Crson converts 1-0

    • Cindy Luis September 29, 2012 at 7:09 pm

Not the best of rotations. Maeda playing well but way too much left side to Croson. LBSU up 4=1

      • Cindy Luis September 29, 2012 at 7:11 pm

At 5-5, Kastl in on left.

        • Cindy Luis September 29, 2012 at 7:12 pm

Probably Hawaii’s strongest rotation with Croson serving. UH up 8-5. Vorster 3-0-6

          • Cindy Luis September 29, 2012 at 7:19 pm

            UH up 15-10 at the TTO. UH hitting .200 10-4-30-, LBS 111. 6-3-27. Kastl 2-2-4, Vorster 3-0-6, Croson 2-2-8, Hartong 2-0-10, Adolpho 1-0-1. 15 digs, 1 bloc

  • Cindy Luis September 29, 2012 at 7:23 pm

Quite the mismatch in the middle. Vorster 4-0-9. TO LBS.

  • Cindy Luis September 29, 2012 at 7:27 pm

Uiato and Adolpho on the block. UH up 23-15. TO LBS. Hawaii very business like, not a lot of unforced errors. Wahine with 4 blocks.

    • Cindy Luis September 29, 2012 at 7:30 pm

Hawaii very efficient in winning 25-17.

      • Cindy Luis September 29, 2012 at 7:32 pm

        Wahine hit 256 15-4-43, Kastl 2-2-5, Vorster 4-0-8, Croson 3-2-13, Hartong 3-0-12, Adolpho 3-0-4. 20 digs, 6 by Maeda, 5 by Longo, 4 blocks, 3 BA by Uiato, 3 BA by Vorster. 1 ace, 1 SE
        LBS 12-7-43, Mackie 2-0-10, Algner 3-5-15, Reid 3-2-7, Okpala 2-0-3, Serna 2-0-4, 2 block, 20 digs.0 aces, 2 SEs

        • Cindy Luis September 29, 2012 at 7:34 pm

Same lineups for both teams in Set 2.

      • sunandsurf September 29, 2012 at 7:34 pm

It’s still early but jade and Longo playing well….

        • Cindy Luis September 29, 2012 at 7:35 pm

Vorster getting a lot of 1-on-1s as LBS releases to the outside. Longo is playing well but so is Maeda.

          • Cindy Luis September 29, 2012 at 7:39 pm

Ace by Hartong Makes it 8-4.

  • Cindy Luis September 29, 2012 at 7:41 pm

Long Beach flopped its lineup, hoping to get a better matchup with Serna on Adelopho. we’ll see how that works.

    • Cindy Luis September 29, 2012 at 7:45 pm

Croson on the X makes it 15-9 at the TTO And yes, the 49ers server clearly over the a few plays back.

      • sunandsurf September 29, 2012 at 7:46 pm

        Thought so!

      • Jon September 29, 2012 at 7:50 pm

she’s been getting away with it all match long… 3 or 4 times already!

        • Cindy Luis September 29, 2012 at 7:52 pm

          twice at least.

  • Beauston September 29, 2012 at 7:44 pm

What a great job Wong is doing calling the play by play

    • Cindy Luis September 29, 2012 at 7:46 pm

Wong isn’t calling the play by play. It’s MacLachlin and Dashefvsky.

    • Beauston September 29, 2012 at 7:47 pm

      Or was that Howard D?

      • Cindy Luis September 29, 2012 at 7:48 pm

Not listening so i don’t know who is doing PbyP. it’s not Wong for sure

  • kaleiboy September 29, 2012 at 7:48 pm

    How large is the crowd?

    • Cindy Luis September 29, 2012 at 7:49 pm

Good crowd. but i’m bad at counting. maby 6800? Kastl with the kill it’s 17-11. TO Beach.

      • Cindy Luis September 29, 2012 at 7:54 pm

Not real impressed with The Beach tonight. Guess we’ve been used to sharper play and a more dynamic setter. UH keeping it close with their service errors. Croson out of the back row goes into the second level. it’s 22-16. Double sub with Stauber and Goodman in.

        • Cindy Luis September 29, 2012 at 7:56 pm

UH wins set 25-16 and it wasn’t that close. UH hit 636 for Set 2, Beach 160.

          • sunandsurf September 29, 2012 at 7:59 pm

As much as I want the Wahine to win, I wish LB would play better….

          • Cindy Luis September 29, 2012 at 8:00 pm

Vorster 4-1-11, Croson 7-2-18, Hartong 7-0-18, Adolpho 6-0-7, Kastl 5-2-9, 3 aces, 5 SEs, 26 digs, 7 by Longo, 6 by Maeda 5 blocks, 1 solo and 3 BA by Vorster, 3 BA by Maeda.
            for 49ers Mackie 5-2=16, Reid 7-2-11, Okpala 4-0-6, Serna 3-2-8, Anger 3-5-16. 26 digs, 11 by Johnson, 3 blocks. 0 aces, 3 SEs.

        • jmy September 29, 2012 at 7:59 pm

Debbie Green’s departure probably had something to do with that…the setter part, anyway…

          • Cindy Luis September 29, 2012 at 8:02 pm

Green no longer on staff probably does hurt. But her daughter Nicole Vargas is on staff.

  • Beauston September 29, 2012 at 7:58 pm

Great to see Ginger Long stepping up. Appreciate how Shoji sees that as well.

    • Cindy Luis September 29, 2012 at 8:06 pm

Long played well Thursday. has a good serve, hits well from the back row. just a little undersized to be in the front.

      • Kiegl September 29, 2012 at 8:54 pm

Long is same height as Satele, Croson, Otineru, Tano and is taller than Danielson. If we are talking body type/muscle mass, Tano and Duggins were slimmer than her. I just don’t get the “too undersized to be up front.” I think the proper term is “not good enough” to see significant time as a front row player.

  • po'okela September 29, 2012 at 7:59 pm

they mentioned leahey being honored at campbell for its 50th anniversary being named too teacher of the last 50 years.

  • po'okela September 29, 2012 at 8:00 pm

    top teacher

  • Beauston September 29, 2012 at 8:01 pm

As for Uiato, much improved tonight setting up the offense effectively and well spread out getting what looks like a lot of production from the middles as well.

    • Cindy Luis September 29, 2012 at 8:04 pm

Think The Beach’s block is very slow to react. Uiato has distributed well and they have no answer for Adolpho on the step outs when she times it right. The passing has allowed her to have all options.

  • jmy September 29, 2012 at 8:04 pm

Any yellow cards for Gimmillaro yet? No match would be complete without one…

    • Cindy Luis September 29, 2012 at 8:06 pm

Not even close to a yellow. only complaints he can have is about his team. he might throw a clipboard.

  • uhfan September 29, 2012 at 8:06 pm

Hope Shoji is talking to the refs about the foot faults they keep missing by Long Beach

    • Cindy Luis September 29, 2012 at 8:09 pm

I’m sure he’s mentioned the foot faults. Not sure why The beach went outside twice, stuffed twice. 49ers went back to the lineup they started in Set 1.

      • Cindy Luis September 29, 2012 at 8:11 pm

Hartong hits through the block off a bumpset from Long. it’s 6-3. TO Beach

  • Beauston September 29, 2012 at 8:11 pm

    Thought score was 6-3 UH

    • Cindy Luis September 29, 2012 at 8:12 pm

      It is. 6-3

      • Beauston September 29, 2012 at 8:14 pm

        They just fixed it

      • Cindy Luis September 29, 2012 at 8:15 pm

UH with its 9th block. It’s 10-4. TO Beach.

  • Beauston September 29, 2012 at 8:12 pm

    Stream went out arrrgh

  • KiMo September 29, 2012 at 8:14 pm

Anybody know if they rebroadcasting this match tomorrow?

    • jmy September 29, 2012 at 8:15 pm

Tomorrow morning two times in a row, starting at 8:00 I believe…could be wrong…

      • Cindy Luis September 29, 2012 at 8:20 pm

Setters trade dumps, Roenickie’s covered. Uiato’s not dug. 14-7.

    • uhfan September 29, 2012 at 8:15 pm

I think the 1st replay is at 11 am then at 2

    • bowsfan September 29, 2012 at 9:25 pm

Wins repeated over and over again.

  • Beauston September 29, 2012 at 8:16 pm

Well its all screwed up now, going in and out.

  • Warrior15 September 29, 2012 at 8:17 pm

stream is fine for me … :)

    • Cindy Luis September 29, 2012 at 8:20 pm

      Finally called the FF.

      • Jon September 29, 2012 at 8:21 pm

        about time…

      • uhfan September 29, 2012 at 8:21 pm

        Took them long enough

  • Zig September 29, 2012 at 8:22 pm

I don’t understand why Oceanic cannot anticipate these issues.

  • Warrior Dave September 29, 2012 at 8:24 pm

Totally different team when the middles are involved. Go Wahine!!!!

  • Zig September 29, 2012 at 8:25 pm

Another Wahine volleyball game ruined by Oceanic.

  • kaleiboy September 29, 2012 at 8:36 pm

Howard D said Jim L was honored by Campbell HS tonite. I think Howard did a better job tonite…

  • volleyball fan September 29, 2012 at 8:59 pm

We may not be able to watch the match against Cal Poly next week due to conflict with soccer as the announcer said (I watched the earlier match where Cal Poly lost in three straight sets to UCSB.) Like Riverside, Cal Poly is winless in the Big West. I believe that Shoji will be able to clear his bench in that match and rest our starters. This is Cal Poly’s worst year ever. Can anyone reveal who was the one person who gave Cal Poly the vote of Big West champion this year? Hope it wasn’t Shoji (who might not have wanted to vote for Long Beach). Any guess?

  • Burt September 30, 2012 at 10:51 am

Love that Adolpho. Always did like her. If she can literally elevate her step out ala Amber K. or Bown, using some of her basketball skills, she could become the most formidable player in the NCAA. Recall, Penn State could not stop Amber in the semi-finals. After a recent slump Emily H. is finally living up to expectations. For quite a while I was pessimistic about HI, now I’m more than satisfied w/ their play against LBS. This time HI made & earned most of the points despite good defense especially in the first part of the initial set. This is good to see. The last set was all very muddled up by Time Warner so it hard to tell then.
