Get a phonebook, find the chancellor's office number, call, and get her email address, assuming you don't get to talk to her. You can do this with the rest of the committee, too.

Actually, you probably should've done this at least a week ago.

Agree with Keoni. Keith has a long list of accomplishments and, with his extensive community ties, would reinvigorate the program. What have the others accomplished? Do not hold your breath that they will do anything worthwhile. A more beneficial change at UH might be to get rid of Hinshaw and McLain and other political cronies. Recall that they were not about to get rid of Frazier until there was a near-riot in Manoa. Questionable judgment.

Agree with Keoni. Keith has a loaded list of accomplishments and would reinvigorate UH Athletics, while the others have done who knows what. We do know they have connections to UH but do not hold your breath that any of these will take UH Athletics to a new level. A more important change might be to replace the higher administrators. Time to get the political cronies out of UH. Recall that Hinshaw was not about to get rid of Frazier until there was near-riot in Manoa. Her judgment is suspect.

Hey Dave, so what's up with the UHAD search committee? Why even have it if Hinshaw knows who she wants? BTW, who made her QUEEN, probably herself. Has she ever been part of a selection committee for an Athletic Director? If we let someone dictate who they want as the AD, we'll end up in the same boat we're in now. The job should go to someone who can change how the University of Hawaii is perceived to the community and the NCAA. I believe Keith Amemiya should be given a chance to at least have an interview. Yes, he lacks D-1 experience but he makes up for it in his community relations and "out of the box" thinking. Stan Sheriff was the last know "out of the box" thinker that UH had, it was unfortunate that he had to leave us so soon. We shouldn't go backwards with the selection of Donovan, Freitas, Clapp, or Moniz-Kaho'ohanohano. The State and University needs to move forward and Keith Amemiya is the right person to do it. Look at what he did for High School athletics. With the D-II division it gives smaller schools the opportunity to play for the big game and show case some of their talents that may have been missed by being crushed by a larger D-I school. Keith was able to make the "non-profit" HHSAA gather donations and sponsorships to make it a self sustaining operation. Keith Amemiya is the change we all desire, it's not to late to make a push to get him in.

Thanks, DR!

Speaking of Wags, I recall that he as HC and another Warriors blogger in town got along 'rather nicely' back then, huh?

Let's see if I can remember ... that was a whole two hours ago!!

We basically went over the five interviewees a little. Talked about how it's Hinshaw's show, and the makeup of the committee might not matter that much (it's not necessarily a democratic process as we saw in 2002).

Got silly and said if Bob Wagner got the job I wonder if Hugh Yoshida would go along with being "hired" by him so Wagner could "fire" him on the same day. Might be a fun way to raise money: Would people pay to go to the "press conference?"

I was told by someone in the know that there were very few applicants without Hawaii ties. This person felt that the Frazier situation, with him being an outsider and what evolved, scared them off.

As for your second question, if Herman had done what he was supposed to do regarding the schedule, I don't think the Warriors would've made it to the Sugar Bowl ... but if they did win a road game against a big name strong nonconference foe on the way to 13-0 in the regular season, they would've played in New Orleans ... a week later.

We'll never know, but the Georgia game makes me think UH would have lost at USC and probably at Michigan. Louisville? That would've been interesting.
