Thoughts on CSUN and COH?

Sill a little emotions from last night’s memorial service for UH swimmer Peter Chi. Just one of those special people gone too soon and touched so many people. Someone you wish you had known.
And it put into perspective what is important … and not important, such as who night no longer be rooming with who from the UH volleyball team. Or even if it’s true. Heck, I changed roommates in the middle of my first quarter freshman year because the girl (Tish) across the hall and I had similar interests and my then roommate had the same intereests as Tish’s roommate. Assignments back then were done alphabetically and Luis was before Magara. and two others had the same last name of Miller.
But I digress. wasn’t even 6 a..m when i turned on the computer. looks like the trades will be back and a beautiful sunrise above Kaelepulu
Think I mentioned earlier that the CSUN team that shows up this week likely won’t be the same the Wahine played a few weeks ago … only because it all depends on how they handle the largest arena and biggest crowds in the conference It usually takes a while for teams to get used to the noise, even the friendly noise. Even without Croson …. and no indications she has been reinstated so far … think Hawaii should win in three
If you have a chance to come, it should be a great night with the Circle of Honor induction. Allen Allen Kanoe Kamana’o and Maureen O’Toole. Was reminded of a story from former UH assistant AD Kaia Hedlund from the 80s when UH came to play at UC Irvine where she was then working. Apparently Crawford Hall had some creative signs but the best was when someone ordered a pizza to be delivered to Allen on the UH bench.

Also I think the Big West teams/coaches will have to get used to playing 3 hours after their California start times because of our time zone. Remember when the teams that came out here seemed to have a hard time going back to the mainland after two games in Hawaii usually hard fought losses (I think they called it the Hawaiian curse or something like that). And as far as Jane, she will do what she will do but I am confident that she will make the best decision for her and I will support her whatever that maybe. She has definitely given us a lot of good memories for the short time she has been here. I would wish her well if she goes on, but I’m hoping she graces us with her game for 3 more years before moving on. Go Wahine!
I’m hoping for a sweep as well! Along with those factors you mentioned (big crowd, in a big arena) being in Hawaii and traveling… should be interesting though w/out Jane’s services- she did have 18 kills alongs w/ 11 digs against them the last time… hope Ashley, Kaela or Tai will pick up their games.
Also, Grammy jane only has two more years left.

ok again i’ll bite. Reading your blog Ms. Luis is always informative and sometimes salacious…lol. So from your entry, is the reference to ex wahine roomates directly regarding J.C. and S.H.? Not sure what happened there but I read that there was friction. So, was that the source of suspension?
certainly not trying to be salacious. I have no idea if nay of the rumors are true about people leaving the dorms. sadly, I had to cover the memorial last night of UH swimmer, saw a few of the Wahine there, was not going to disturb them. also in a middle of a story on the Ironman this weekend so haven’t been too wrapped up in speculations.
Shoji has refused to give details of the suspension. in this day of social media ii5 iw a big surprised that nothing verifiable has shown on up on Twitter, FB, etc. It sounds like it is between Shoji and Croson and that the team is respecting the situation. Someone suggested the two were roommates. I don’t know if they were. some of the suites have 4 people.
Hagins did move off campus,reasons unknown ,didn’t ask.
also Hagins and Croson were dorm roommates.
No Alma Serna for Long Beach State is suspended. Article so far says she may not return for the rest of the season. Unfortunate for the Beach to lose most likely their best player

There has been rumors surrounding Croson’s suspension that it had something to do with an incident after the Long Beach State match.
Once again speculation but this will certainly add fuel to that fire.
How do I know this ? Because I just planted the seed.

Hawaii Long Beach State was was Sept. 29, nearly two weeks ago. doesn’t this seem a little long for this to be related?
Besides, Gimmillarro had his team in the locker room for an hour after the match. not seeing how there was time for anything to have happened at the arena that night.
hmmmm that is very much a big coincidence now isn’t it???!!!!
One can only speculate at this point, but that is a shame for the beach to lose her she certainly stood out, along with their other middle.
Gosh, i just hope Jane is able to come back, etc., it sounds like that Serna is not returning.
And the story continues to unfold…. I am surprised as well w/ twitter and facebook and all of our social media … that the actual truth has not come out yet…
I find Croson to be really immature but considering her age I guess she can get away with it.
How can you call her immature and make a judgement when you don’t know what happened? And did she get away with anything? She’s been suspended.

both sort of related.
There were a few comments that were deemed inappropriate by our webmasters and myself. so those were deleted. I’m not the one always deleting the posts. We have alerts triggered by inappropriate language.
Some were personal attacks on me.
Nothing new there. We have had to block several people for continued threats and obscenities. Was asked If I wanted to file a police report by management. I’ve said no so far.
So thank you to everyone for being civil.

Thank you for the kind words on Peter Chi. There was so much more to write and no room … not a lot of time either. had to turn that story in with in an hour-ish.
Have always hated going to memorial services. and having to write about it. so hard to talk to grieving people. you don’t want to intrude. Especially young people
I thank one of the Endzone Aunties for her help. Lauretta Sewake’s grandson was Chi’ classmate at Waiakea and she helped with pointing me in the direction of the Waiakea kids and having her grandson Aaron speak to me. .
I agree, I read it while riding the bus to school at UH today and it was very touching.
Several people? Can only think of one. Ha! Well, probably thinks by now he is “several people”.

Cindy, please document and file what ever you need to feel safe in preforming your duties as a reporter. You have provided us with a service that most of us greatly appreciate and look forward to reading. The thought that someone is harassing you for what ever reason makes me very angry. You have our support, understanding, and backing for how ever you decide to handle this cowardly attack. I just hope we don’t lose you and let the idiots win.

Documentation has been ongoing.
And this is not a sign of ‘letting them win’ but the blog will be suspended after next Tuesday while I travel to San Diego to help with matters concerning my ailing mother. Will be gone for a week at least.

Cindy, I have always loved your blog since I was shown it. I find it bothersome to wade through some of the comments but try and keep and open mind. Take care of your business and know that you will be missed but we know the importance of ohana. So God speed and all well wishes for you and your mom and your family.

Mahalo Cindy for your blog. I really appreciate the informative updates. Why would these idiots threaten you or make stupid remarks is beyond me. I wish Jane Croson well and hope all will be resolved soon. It is none of any one’s business to know what is going on that required Coach Shoji to suspend her so we should just allow the process to resolve itself in due time. Prayers to the healing of your mom and a safe trip to you.

It is amazing that a few idiots have to swear or threaten on this blog. Most of us are just trying to express our opinion, right or wrong. It is interesting and fun to read what everyone has to say. word is that just like Jane, LBSU middle blocker Serna was Indefinitely Suspended as well. although seems more serious than Jane. Any thoughts on this one?

Sema has problems with her ankle which has not healed. Not suspended.
So glad to read in this morning’s article on Longo about Jane’s 100% support of team. Certainly doesn’t sound as if she going anywhere soon, wasn’t stated outright but that’s what it ‘sounded’ like to me. Go Jane! Go Aly! Go Wahine!
Here’s some facts. Jane is not going anywhere, she’s in good spirits and working out on her own. There’s no friction between Croson and Hagins they are friends. Today’s match is the third that Shoji has sat Jane due to her breaking team rules not the law. Three football players were cited for DUI and reinstated after three football games. Coming in next week is Davis and Pacific, two better BW teams that UH hasn’t played as yet and then a road trip to the Beach and Irvine. When is the punishment for breaking a team rule not the law end.

Looks like I stand corrected. I was on the Long Beach Athletic webpage and Ashley is correct …Alma Sema was suspended and she has not been attending her classes.
