June Jones worked for peanuts for many years. The fact that he has purchased multiple properties on the islands and helped to bring national respect to a small island school is completely being ignored by a handful of people with ignorant expectations regarding this profession. He deserves a thank you and a warm welcome when ever he comes into town to visit friends and spend time in the State that he has loved for the bigger part of his life.

With all due respect, Kainoa, This is not about taking the high road. This is about the contract. This is the world of black and white. If the contract stipulates that JJ gives back 50% of his annual salary in the event of getting a job somewhere else, he will have to pay it back. What Herman said way back when is irrelevant. If Herman's words were not included in the revised contractual language, the point is absolutely moot. The binding arbitration will decide in UH's favor.

Hi All,
I'm like most of you out there, euphoric because of the greatest season ever, crushed by the results of the Sugar Bowl and then kicked in the gut when JJ pulled the great defection. It was so bad I couldn't read, watch and tried not to even THINK about sports. But, that said, I agree with one of the other posters that UH should take the high road. I feel that JJ did us real dirt, but we shouldn't let that make us lower ourselves. The money is a big deal for our program, but I think that if JJ had any sense honor, he would not quibble but instead do the right thing. Pay UH the money back that he didn't earn, IMO.

Dave this is a very interesting new detail to the contract issue. I'm wondering if potential liability (such as toward HF or LS) is beyond scope of arbitration. Also wonder if the process is merely to decide on merits of the contact and its enforcebility or to go further and review/consider mitigating factors that may warrant holding others accoubtable/liable??? All in all this is very intereting. My take though is JJ should still pay up for way he left. Imagine if he got his wish of relocating the entire coaching staff (including Coach Mac), damages would have been so great it might have taken many years to recover, if at all. Just look at SMU! Bottom-line he wasn't even looking out for the best interest of his subordinate and supposely good friend and it actually took Artie Wilson to step in to turn the tide from bad to good. It was Artie not JJ who helped place Coach Mac's name into the mix.

If JJ is off the hook and if he is looking out for the school's best interest like he says, it would be apropos for him to donate the $400,000 to the Warrior football program to improve the facilities he so complained about.
If he did that, I think he will redeem himself to all the fans that he hurt by leaving.

get real. i may not like JJ after he spooke with forked tongue, but enough people will do the right thing and not shaft him after he made so many of us feel good about ourselves. breach of contract is a jury demand kind of thing. holding on to a lose lose situation will only make UH look bad in the long run. UH does not have the legal talent nor the case facts to win a jury trial on this one and our State will flounder. Look at DLNR's recent track record. Better to take the high road in this case because HF did muddy the water, and those who think UH has a case are hoping paper wins over facts. IMO.

Dave,
Do you think by reviewing the "Warrior Bowl" those that were on the "cut" list and made some plays, were enough to make the team.Or no matter what they did during the game, thier status on the team was already determined.

If this is true, can UH sue Frazier for negligence and have him pay the $400,008? I hope so, because we really need the money and it would be a shame to lose it because the fool was so stupid and corrupt!

doesn't UH BOR have the last say on JJ's contract? Is HF a Liberal Democrat changing the contract stipulations on the fly? This is not rural street football we're dealing with at UH Sports or is it?
