Hawaii had a 20-19 lead. as what has happened all too often, they can’t close. UCLA wins 25-21.
five lead changes, 16 ties.
UH 13-3-28, Hunt 4-0-11, West 2-0-2, Averill 4-2-7, Lofy 0-0-2, Marks 2-1-8, Hinkle (late) 1-0-1.
UH 0 aces, 8 SEs, 3.5 blocks, 5 digs.
UCLA 13-5-24, 1 aces, 3 SE, 2 blocks 10 digs.
UCLA serving set point at 24-19, UH at 24-20 but Hinkle serves long. Bruins win 25-20.
This team is too frustrating to watch. Ucla’s volleyball IQ is much higher!
wouldn’t say UCLA’s IQ is higher. But their experience as a team is.
Set 2. UH 11-2-25 UCLA 15-3-24.
Warriors 0 aces, 6 SEs in set 2, Bruins 1 ace, 6 SEs.
UH 1 block, UCLA 1.
think it will be a sweep.
Agreed this will be a sweep, UH cant play defense and Bscaro makes too many bad/trap sets.
not faulting Biscaro for everything. passing pretty bad.
UCLA up 15-14 at the TTO. UH’s block has come alive on the outside but I expect the Bruins to go back to their middles soon.
Question to Cindy: will live streaming show on Saturday night Al Scates farewell ceremony before the match starts?
that’s TV’s decision. I’m assuming they’ll show it at some point during the match.
Saturday again on 1500 for radio.
UH just not that good in the latter part of the match. close to 20-18. now 22-18. TO UH
UCLA wins Set 3 25-21. Hunt with 16 kills. not much else
be back in a bit.
Thanks for answering my question Cindy. Meanwhile on the Stanford website, I learned that they beat UCI in three straight sets, a very dramatic first set where Stanford held off eight(!) set points. What a tenacious team! I know you were curious about the outcome of this match and possibly you heard about it already.
yes, I had seen the UCI-Stanford score and recap. part of what I do at the arena on game nights is update the mpsf standings for the paper.
Cindy, are there any incoming prospects at setter for next year? I honestly don’t know if Biscaro can improve enough to attain (or even approach) the same level of play that Nec Z. was at.
haven’t seen what Wade is bringing in. they have Lile. don’t know if he’s the answer.
