Wahine at SJSU rewind 11-2

By Cindy Luis

A good night for Hawaii, didn’t play down for the most part. Danielson teed off again, didn’t have a hitting error until her next-to-last swing. And glad to see Kaufman have a good night in front of a lot of family and friends.

The Spartans are undersized and young. They should be better in the next few years.

It’s going to be very interesting to see how the final weeks play out for those last three WAC tourney berths. At the moment, only Hawaii, NMSU and Idaho appear as locks, and SJSU definitely out. You’ve got No. 4-8 (five teams) battling for the remaining there spots. with only 1 1/2 games separating the buch. Fresno State and Boise State at 5-6, Nevada 4-7, and Utah State and Louisiana Tech at 4-8.

Oh wow! Any chance they will play post season games here? Pretty please!

  2. Cindy Luis Says:

Don’t know what it will take to have it here. It would a great way to reward Shoji. But who knows.

Someone mentioned to me that for Hawaii to host the 1st/2nd round subregional, the only dates available are Thurs., Dec. 3 and Fri., Dec. 4 (since football vs. Wisconsin is on Sat., Dec. 5). But there’s a WBB game scheduled for 7pm on Thurs. in the SSC. Any word on what UH might be considering to eliminate the scheduling conflict? Klum for WBB is not even an option unless they’ve got some portable bleachers hidden away somewhere that can be moved in there.

If it takes money…they’ll find it here… :)

We lead in attendance and everything else…probably t-shirt sales too!

  5. Cindy Luis Says:

they’ve led in attendance since 95. not all about the money these days. they have these regional pods and limit on how many flights teams can make. haven’t hosted a sub-regional since 03. They were undefeated in 04 and only got a seven seed and shipped to Texas.

  6. Cindy Luis Says:

Yep, Stanley, you’re right. and the ncaa (to save money) wants the 1st-2nd rounds on consecutive dates. with basketball on the third … unless they can get USF to move it wednesday. a shame if UH couldn’t figure out how to make it work.

Cindy, I believe i’ve asked this before, but don’t remember your answer.

The thing is, wasn’t there an article that came out within the past 2 or so years mentioning a new NCAA ruling which stated that the top 4 seeds in the tourney automatically get to host?

I remember reading it in the SB: I think THINK it was located in the Hawaii Beat section or something like that… maybe, but i’m positive someone in the SB wrote something on it.

  8. Cindy Luis Says:

Lina, I believe you’re right but I can’t find that article on the SB site nor on the NCAA site.

But just because Hawaii is ranked in the top 4 doesn’t mean they’ll be a top-4 seed. Their RPI is in the 20s. and I don’t know if UCLA beating Stanford has any bearing on UH’s RPI. Wahine swept both.

Shoji is really hoping they get to host but they do need to work out that conflict with wahine basketball, if it hasn’t been done already. Shoji was unaware this morning that there was a conflict so maybe it’s been taken care of and the WBK schedule hasn’t been updated.
