Hi Cindy this is a bit off topic but do you know If Jonas Umlauft is enrolled in school already?
Also have you heard anything about the grad assistant position being filled? I am hoping Brian Beckwith gets it ( he’s one of my all time favorites).

I’m seeing Charlie Wade Tuesday and will ask about Jonas.
I don’t believe there is going to be a grad assistant. There hasn’t been in a while (think Aaron Wilton was the last in 97 or so). There had been speculation that there might be a GA if Mason was promoted to first assistant or if they had an opening for a second assistant, had mason not been retained. I do know that both Beckwith and Schkud were interested if there was a GA spot, Carney as well. Another thing to ask Charlie on Tuesday.

Hi Cindy
Do you have any idea when we will start getting news about the wahine volleyball team?
July 12th, 2009 at 8:46 pm
probably late July when they are working the last camp and then go into 2-a-days

The Wahine ?….Right now strength and conditioning seems to be taking up much of their time but I’ve also heard about some practicing which they must have organized on their own because right now I believe that NCAA rules prohibit coaches from being involved.
Both transfers arrived around the 4th and both seem to be adjusting really well. They love it here and recently got involved with a local community organization involving kids.
I don’t think Tuaniga has arrived yet . I wouldn’t know Chantalle DeLa Courture if I seen her.

Yes, the Wahine have been doing informal workouts. Nothing formal with coaches until 2-a-day. plus they’ve been involved with the camps.
Believe Chantalle is no longer with the team. It was a spring experiment. Believe Tuaniga was at JOs.

News on the 09 Wahine VB team is sure hard to come by. UH is really a slow pokey outfit when one looks over the VB websites of the DI schools. UH is clearly among the cellar dwellars. The Miss Hawaii story has been there forever. UH personnel working on the site must be on “furlough” – or is it due to a shortage of good help? For shame!

I’m not sure what you’re looking for in terms of news. any hints?
I looked at Stanford and the latest thing they had was about players on USAV rosters. they announced their incoming freshmen June 1, schedule on April 21.
Penn State is all about them winning their championship in December, although they did post their prospectus July 14.
As for the Wahine, they released their schedule in April, announced the two transfers in May and had a former player named Miss Hawaii in late June. There is no other news.
Players are informally working out. Not all of them are here. Nothing structured until early August. Amber Kaufman did some nice things but that’s on the track page.

The 2009 roster would do. (Understood that updates may be likely). Why is UH the only
WAC team still showing the 2008 roster?

Agree that would be a good thing (updated roster) At least take off the seniors who are gone. I know that when we’ve done our preview magazine, which has to be printed before two-a-days are done, that we’ve gone with names of walk-ons who were in camp but had to put an asterisk saying that the roster was not finalized by the time we went to press. and that was mid-August.

At times I also think the updated roster don’t go up until almost the first match of the season due to lack of hits it gets when the roster do go up. In other words, the webmaster doesn’t see a high demand for it to be up like many schools across the country has theirs put up already. I know 99% of my family and friends love watching the Wahine play whether in person or on tv, but, I am more than likely the only one that actually go to the Wahine homepage, the rest either attend the matches and buy the roster program book instead of going to the Wahine homepage for anything on the Wahine. I also think, the only people that do go to the Wahine homepage are the extreme diehard fans that wants to know everything like myself and other schools’ fans and coaches from other schools, such as the WAC schools that do. I may be wrong, but, that is my suspicion.
