If I remember correctly, the three players that ran over to give Coach Dave a kiss were the Wyoming co-captains.

Wyoming coach felt it was very gracious of Hawaii to have them, knew they weren’t at the caliber of the rest of the field. Loved the experience.

No, don’t think there is a connection other than a couple of the players did play in the same club as Stephanie Brandt.
All the Wyoming players shook hands with all the UH coaches, Dave got a couple of kisses.
It’s a very common thing if you watch Hawaii high school girls volleyball and basketball, kissing the opposing coach before the match. I’ve seen in where a player fouls out or leaves the game permanently in basketball and shakes hands or kisses the opposing coach. only in Hawaii

Cindy, last nite I noticed that when the Wyoming players were being introduced, three of their players ran over to Dave Shoji and gave him a hug and peck on the cheek. What was their connection to Dave or was that some sort or psychological ploy to garner a bit more compassion on their team? Thanks
