Volleyshots

Thought the Wahine adjusted well, getting a read on Neto after Set 1
wasn’t really a slow start IMHO. they led early but got in a bad rotation. As Shoji said postmatch, they had won Set 1 the past 5 matches. so obviously he was aware of the criticism of ‘slow starts.’
Think they should have no trouble with UCR.
don’t forget it’s an 8 p.m. start. Senior night for Emily Maeda.
Wahine taking Thanksgiving off. So am I.
An interesting trivia note. Friday’s match won’t be on the Teraflex. first time since 2008 senior night that they’re on the wood court. Believe that the set up will remain in the basketball configuration SO the teams will be on the opposite side of the court.
I don’t understand the late start. Woman’s basketball starts at 4:30. That’s a long time to wait (I have season tickets to the Wahine basketball games)—an hour and a half—if the 2 basketball games finishes its usual times.
Late start … no guarantee the Wahine basketball game will start at 430. there is another game before that.
Plus volleyball requires an hour for warmups
Cindy, does that mean, the up ref will be on the opposite side, also?
Guess you will be sitting on the opposite side, also. Or, will you be getting nice an comfy, sitting that close to Dave.
Anyway, have a wonderful Thanksgiving.
the media table will be switched as well as the officials.
1 1/2 hour still seems like enough time to put the teraflex back.
Actually, they would have less then an hour to put the teraflex in. Basketball usually last 2 – 2 1/2 hours. Volleyball teams start warming up 1/2 hour before the start of the match. Do not think they can put the teraflex floor down in less then an hour.
there’s no guarantee that the basketball games would go two hours (must figure in TV TOs, possible OT). remember, that there is a game at 2 p.m. before the Hawaii game at 4:30 p.m.
and collegiate volleyball teams actually have the clock start an hour before the match start, just like basketball does
if uh hosts rounds 1/2 next week, when do the tickets go on sale?
i am a season ticket holder, i haven’t received a notice about rounds 1/2 possibility – generally, i get a notice in the mail about holding to my season ticket seat before selection sunday, but haven’t heard from uh yet?
does anyone know what is happening with rounds 1./2 ticket sales?
you should have received a notice by now.
Tickets usually go on sale the Monday after the announcement.
Do hope we win Friday and get the hosting duties, but Wahine will play their game anytime. any floor, and just about any timezone. But as usual, deserving of hosting and NCAA volleyball seeding committee decisions are not usually found in the same sentence around here. So Go Wahine! And you will always be part of my silent Thanksgiving prayers this year as every year since I became a fan and season ticket holder. And Emily M. hope you get to celebrate a successful senior night, don’t think your teammates will let you down.
Isn’t Hawaii `i the only school in the BW that has teraflex?
They all grew up playing on wood floors so I don’t see any big deal here.
There is a difference when the Wahine goes for digs and sacrifice their bodies in doing do. Teraflex has 25% to 35% shock absorption -wood does not have any kind of give.
I’m not arguing the pros and cons of teraflex vs wood. I’m just saying that this rare, once in a blue moon event isn’t any big deal.
Who’s making a big deal out of it? Nobody’s started an online petition or started picketing the Stan Sheriff Center.
You’re the one starting an argument with people that were just wondering if the teraflex could be put back in time for the vb match.
LOL apparently you are.
No, there is nottime to put back the teraflex.
Besides the Wahine practice in Gym I and that’s a wood surface. it is no big deal.
i am a season ticket holder. I have not received any information regarding 1st and 2nd round ticket sales.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
Happy Birthday to Stephanie Hagins!
UH messed up again, talked to three season ticket holders, no notices as of today.
I would have guessed they would have some sort of contingency plan in place, especially since they hosted last year. And surprised that season ticket holders weren’t given contingency information when they got their season tickets.
Last year, they gave the media the information that Sunday after the selection show to publish/broadcast.
Here is what I think UH will do. Season ticket holders will have Monday and Tuesday, to get to the ticket office to hold on to their seats for the 1st and 2nd round. Starting Wednesday, all remaining seats, including those not claimed by season ticket holders will go on sale to the general public.
Happy Thanksgiving Cindy to you and yours. One of the things I am thankful for is having you cover Wahine VB. No one does it better!!
I just found out that for season ticket holder, they can buy the 1st/2nd round ticket now (same seat). UH will not process payment if not hosting.
UH should have made announcement with above information so season ticket holders can act. Who’s in responsible for this? They should be on it. They know fans are waiting and ready for the next round……..Honestly, after all these years you’d think procedure would be set up. already, just pull it out before the last month’s play or when it’s fairly certain Uh will make the cutoff for possible hosting. Can always cancel if they play elsewhere. It’s not as if this is the first time wahine make it into post season play…..
True, but they didn’t announce it last year until Sunday after the NCAA selection show. Would assume it’s the same process as last year.
I’m a little puzzled since I have a friend who is a season ticket holder and she said she was aware of the contingency if they hosted. She isn’t in the booster club. Said there was something mentioned when they received their tickets in the mail.
I hope Emily Maeda starts as the libero on her senior night.
My guess is he’ll start Maeda somewhere. Recently she’s started as DS and served first. but he might go with her at libero.
Knowing Shoji, if UH wins the first two sets, EM will start as the libero for the third set, that’s my guess. She’ll be the player of the match pick by Jim Leahey, yayyy!
The team was rehearsing a dance for EM. Should be fun and hilarious!
If I remember correctly, the Wahine did play on the hardwood basketball court just once a few years ago. Not sure why the teraflex wasn’t laid out, but I could of sworn they did play on the basketball court hardwood once.
Excuse me. did not see the original post where Cindy said it was back in 2008 when the wahine had to play on the hardwood floor. So maybe my memory isnt so bad after all.
yes, last happened in 2008.
