Wahine uniform discussion

Buried on another thread 2 questions that merit discussion. I don’t have a favorite and they obviously have to change the conference logo.

Which past uniforms did everyone like. I didn’t like long sleeves in hot Klum days. I liked the rainbow colors and first names on the back.

Anyone know if there’s any major facelift on Wahine’s uniform now that their moving to Big West? I think the Men’s uniform change draw some interest even though a lot of folks here didnt like it.
I’m hoping the Wahine will have something completely different this year but keep the colors we’ve grown accustomed (sp) to. It will be good to have a change to help celebrate Wahine’s comeback to the conference.

Didn’t the long sleeves help with passing and setting? Passing with sweaty arms and setting with a sweaty ball are pretty hard.
Don’t remember that specifically helping but it makes sense.players have difference preferences. and who can forget The Beach’s high cut unitard?

I really like the all black uniforms like the ones they wore in the final four a couple years back. They looked cool!
Kinda like Hawaii`s version of the “All Blacks” from New Zealand. Kinda matches due to Hawaii`s Polynesian make up. JMO.
Here are my thoughts:
Colors-
Got to keep it simple to have a true team identity for example when I think of red its the USC, if I think of powder blue, its UCLA, so on and so forth.
So for the Wahine I’d pick Green as the main school color base on the UH athletics logo, and I agree with John, I do like either black or navy blue, whichever color Shoji likes from either 2 should be it.
That’s it 2 colors, loose the white- doesnt do anything and quite frankly, really redundant.
Green for home games and black or navy for away games.
Sleeves-
I’d actually go with sleeveless, im feeling the vibes from the US national women’s team. I like the look of the sleeveless if it’s properly fitted, not too lose nor too tight. I think UCLA ‘s uniforms always look so tight on the girls really borderline.
The shortsleevess Wahine got going on right now are neither flatterring nor functional. I remember seeing the players actually gathering up the sleeves. So loose the sleeves.
The knee high socks-
For some reason, everyone looks taller in them, I dont have any preference, any thoughts on that?
I like the all black unis, makes the Wahine look very intimidating.
I liked the green one they wore against Illinois in 2009. They should wear that on road games.
I feel like Hawaii, UCLA, and Nebraska are the only Top 25 teams ones that wear short sleeve uniforms anymore. The last time Hawaii wore long sleeve was in 2008.
All unis must meet the approval of Jim Leahey or be subject to ridicule for the entire season and Jim must be respected because after all he is a legend in Hawai`i just ask him.
I wonder if Jim Leahy is doing OC12 women volley this season. If not who might be the lead, Tsuji, Dash?

Interesting info fron digging na wahine regarding UH’s W/L record against current Big West teams.
Surprise to see how many losses we have against UOP and how it contrast to how we did against LBSU, I thought we had more loss against them than UOP. Good info…
Come to think of it though, it was probably when UOP was still legit back on the early days. I guess their program didnt progress as well as UH have.
When John Dunning left UOP for Stanford in 2001 the Pacific program never was the same.
