Wahine up to No. 6
By Cindy Luis
Hawaii moved up a spot in today’s AVCA Coaches Top 25 Division I volleyball poll.
The Wahine (12-2), winners of 11 straight, host Louisiana Tech Friday and New Mexico State Sunday.
Penn State (15-0) remained a unanimous No. 1, followed by Nebraska (15-0) and Texas (10-2). Stanford (13-2) jumped up two spots to fourth with Cal (14-1) at No. 5.

This is off-topic, but I was looking at the UH men’s roster and Keali’i Frank isn’t listed anymore. Is he still with the team? Transferred? Also, who are the new players/recruits expected for this upcoming season?

sorry but the roster is still up in the air. I know they had 30 before a mandated cut of 10 earlier this week. I’m not privy to academic issues until the season starts. I know that Kealii did not make the trip to canada, neither did morehouse nor grgas nor tuaniga nor rawson. with the 13 they took and the four i mentioned (minus Frank). that’s 17. they are allowed to carry only 20. Bruizuela is still listed but I don’t think he made the trip. I’ll know more next week before the alumni match. As I mentioned in today’s paper freshman steven hunt is on the trip.

I do believe Gus and Kristiana Tuaniga are cousins.

I guess we could create another trivia question about related players with Rory Brandt on the men’s team and Stephanie Brandt on the Wahine.
I know that they are not brothers and sisters but maybe related in another way? One is from Thousand Oaks CA and the other from Santa Barbara CA.

I should note, I got my info from VolleyTalk. http://volleytalk.proboards88.com/index.cgi?board=menvb&action=display&thread=21299&page=2
I also got a reply from one of Gus’ relatives via YouTube email-message box after I watched a video on Gus signing his letter of intent to play for UH ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mXUDsfsKhH4 ) in which I posted a comment asking if Kristiana was there at the family gathering. By judging of the reply I got from “jrahz”, Kristiana is related to Gus or else I would suspect that jrahz would’ve mentioned along the lines of “why would she be there?” or “who is that?”. Can’t wait to see both of them playing for UH.
— the email-message reply —
wuddup, kristiana was not in that video.
i will tell gus to check your comment so he
can read what you wrote to him.
peace n blessings. JR

Thanks all. The info I got initially spelled the two last names differently. Tuaniga for one and Tuinaga for another. when I see Gus next week I’ll ask about Kristiana. Thanks again for all the clarifications

To answer an earlier question, Keali’i is not enrolled in school this semester.
