Wahine vs. Idaho rewind

A very efficient night for Hawaii. They looked as good as they have all season in Sets 1 and 2. Thought Mafua kept Idaho off balance with the up-tempo offense. At one point in Set 2, UH hitting .765: 13-0-17 when leading 19-5. When Ferrell was blocked (21-9) UH was 15-1-22. They ended up hitting .640 (17-1-25).Cubi-Otineru didn’t have a hitting error until the middle of Set e (10-1-20) when she was blocked on a pipe set.Forsythe continues to play well when coming in Set 3. She’s 5-0-6 in each of the last 2 matches. She’s 31-3-51 on the season, her only hitting errors came against Cal when she was 4-3-8.We’ll see what happens at LaTech. A bit of a surprise they could knock off Utah State (in 5) tonight. Their first win since Sept. 29, 2007, a stretch of 27 WAC matches. But Hawaii is a pretty mature team and should handle the road OK.

    Cindy,
Any word on who’s on the travel roster?

  • Cindy Luis September 27, 2009 at 5:02 pm

No official word but probably not too hard to figure it out. 18 on the roster, 5 haven’t played (4 redshirts plus Maeda, she was hoping to go for a medical hardship year but doesn’t know if it can happen)
They’ve used 13 this season. If they only take 12, then I would think it would be Robins who stays home. If they go with 13 then everyone who’s played this season goes.

Cindy, I noticed between the first two matches, Kanani was sitting on the side with some sort of vest that was hooked up to what looked to be a hose. Was this somehow related to the flu that she had been suffering with on thursday? It seemed to me that she was still not 100%.

Didn’t notice a hose. could have been oxygen but I don’t know for sure. No, she wasn’t 100 percent, still weakened by the flu. which is why they told her to stay home Thursday. She participated fully in Friday’s practice but it was a short practice. maybe 90 minutes. We’ll see how she is at tomorrow’s practice.
