I’m giving up. posts keep disappearing
NMSU loses in 5 at Utah State
    Idaho sweeps LaTech
from the box looked like a balanced attack for the Wahine. Danielson with a double double. Croson over .200. good production from the middles.
and an interesting spin on things from gobulldogs..com

It’s kind of funny how they’re trumpeting that “11th all time set victory” like its milestone victory over UH.

So the score must be around 160 to a BIG 11???

        • Cindy Luis October 28, 2011 at 4:48 pm

More like 153-11 since Hawaii is 51-0 vs. FSU. giving up 11 sets. they actually pushed UH to 5 once.
This is the UH program record for futility for opponents.

Cindy, Glad to see you had a safe trip over. Hope your mom is well. You had some great “assistants” posting game updates. You trained them well.

Q: Who’s going to experience a supernatural encounter this week? A: TheFinal Four pretenders will be tricked and the real contenders will be treated. Fear not, the Bows will not be among the top teams that get spooked this scary Hallo-weekend.

THIS WEEK’S MATCHUP OF THE WEEK [repost]

    10/28 (Fri): #14 Iowa State (16-3/7-1) at #9 Texas* (14-4/7-1) [Big 12]

(Only reason I chose to highlight this bone-chilling battle for conference bragging rights is because the 9-team Big 12 has not been featured thus far.)

    THIS WEEK’S OTHER MAJOR MATCHUPS

    10/28 (Fri): #13 Florida (17-3/10-1) at #20 Tennessee (18-3/11-1) [SEC]

    #6 UCLA (18-3/11-2) at #2 California (21-2/11-2) [Pac-12]

    #4 USC (17-3/12-1) at #5 Stanford (16-3/10-3) [Pac-12]

    10/29 (Sat): #1 Nebraska (17-1/10-0) at #8 Penn State (15-5/8-2) [Big Ten]

    #4 USC at #2 California [Pac-12]

    #6 UCLA at #5 Stanford [Pac-12]

    10/30 (Sun): #13 Florida at #24 Kentucky (19-4/10-2) [SEC]

    Notes:
W-L records are in parenthesis (overall/conference) and are of 10/27.

*The site of volleyball’s 2011 NCAA Championship is not in Austin (home to the U of Texas) but in San Antonio at the Alamodome — or Ala Modome as I like to call it since that gives it a Hawaiian flavor (e.g. Ala Moana).

I have been a diehard Wahine fan since the Klum days but I’m finally resigned to the fact that this is not a
Final Four team. Teams they should dominate too often give the Wahine more than they can chew. Talent wise, they are far and above all the WAC teams but their downfall is inconsistency. Hope they prove me wrong come post season time.

    • Cindy Luis October 28, 2011 at 5:00 pm

Mene, IMHO the Wahine are tired. it was their 8th match in 15 days. lots of travel in those two weeks.
There is no real dominate team this year. Everyone is dropping sets. A lot of parity.
It will all depend on how the bracket is set up as to who gets to the FF.

The team is inconsistent, but the players still have time to evolve. Skill is important, but so are character and the will to win. Look what happened in the World Series; the Cardinals were one of the wildcards but they went all the way, even after being at death’s door two times in game 6.

Anybody got to catch any of the state tournament games at any of the four locations? Any thoughts?

I think Val Crabbe should be the 2011 Hawaii State Coach of the Year, she has lead Mililani to its first OIA title, not to mention the first West team in forever to win the title and is leading them into the semi-finals tonight. Balding should do well with the talent he has and it really is Punahou’s title to lose this year despite the Warriors going for their 7th straight crown.

I was impressed with the high over-all quality of volleyball played at the high school level. No wonder so many kids get scholarships from Hawaii. I saw so many good players I was wondering how Dave and staff decide who to go after.
