Warriors stay at No. 10 in AVCA poll

February 28th, 2011

Not much change in the poll. The only difference is Stanford and UC Santa Barbara swapped places, the Cardinal to No. 3 and the Gauchos to No. 4. this after Stanford outlasted UCSB in 5 last week.
USC with 15 of the first-place votes, No.5 Ohio State with the other.

the question was why is Hawaii still No. 10.
The Warriors are in seventh place in the MPSF, the toughest league in the country. coaches also look at the wins UH has had.
Only Ohio State is in the Top 10 out of non-MPSF schools.
Shouldn’t be a surprise as to where they are.

Something tells me that Ohio State will do VERY well this (playoff) season.
They’ve been good thus far; they seem to have a fighting desire to make it further in the tourney.

I figured out why the Warriors have lost some of its “Mana”.

What has always been the Hawaii Mens Volleyball trademark ? ? ? The Hawaiian Print shorts.

Need to bring back “Da Prints” and “Da Mana” will return.

Right after the 2002 season I arranged a meeting with Quiksilver and Coach Mike. At the time Local Motion was having its problems, and Quiksilver was at least willing to sponsor the shorts. Everything else eg. warm ups, jerseys, travel bags, travel shirts were up for negoiatations. Unfortunately, the deal fell through.
Asics continues to sponsor the Mens uniform and we never saw the Printed Shorts again.

Need to bring back the Hawaiian Print Shorts.

Same goes for the Basketball Team. Remember when the Fab Five played in the 70′s. They also had printed shorts. During the Holiday Classic Florida State players were making fun of Hawaii’s shorts . . . Hawaii blew them off the Court. Hugh Durham the FSU even walked off the court and forfeit that game.

That is the “Da Mana” working its “Ho’ okalakupua” on the opposition. Think about it!!!

Hi Jim, they haven’t worn prints in a while. the deal is with Asics and they don’t do aloha prints.
as for Durham, it was more the officiating than anything else that led to the forfeit. and the NCAA no longer allows the prints because you can’t easily see the uniform numbers.
