WNVL cities

June 23rd, 2011

Discussion started on another thread. Let’s move it over here.

There will be 10 teams. They are announcing one a day. So far: Los Angeles, New York, Washington DC and Chicago. When I spoke with the organizers in ’09 at the final four, they said Hawaii was under consideration. But think the economic climate has changed so probably not viable for the inaugural season.
My guess is they’ll stay close to major airports so this is my list for the remaining 6.
Seattle, somewhere in Nebraska, Texas and Florida, Minneapolis and Denver.
Wouldn’t be surprised if Banachowski gets involved with L.A. Mick Haley and Jerritt Elliott both are involved. or they were 2 years ago.
They’ve pushed back the starting date. no new date given. Original thought is that it was going to be partnered with a TV show similar to Big Brother or Making the Band. …. Making the Team. don’t know if that is still a go.

the WNVL will be a failure in most places.Volleyball at any level just isn’t that popular with Americans.

Information not jibing. Are there two “leagues” — WNVL and WNVA — trying to get off the ground? Note two different, but similar, logos. WNVA has player digging; WNVL has player hitting.

Seems WNVA was announced in Tampa in ’09: http://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/the-womens-national-volleyball-association-wnva-to-announce-bringing-professional-volleyball-indoors-at-the-american-volleyball-coaches-association-convention-79363227.html. No information on their website (http://thewnva.com/) on cities being announced. Just announcements about polls and # of facebook fans.

WNVL’s website has cities/teams listed but the list doesn’t match yours: http://www.wnvl.com/teams.htm. Their website (http://www.wnvl.com/) has even less information than the WNVA’s.

Chances are that UW FB works the crowd (more so now than in recent years)…congratulations, however.

Da Huskies are looking foward to their ‘new’ stadium.

Furrealz? That’s marvelously good to know.

& DEPENDANT upon how negotiations went with the NTHC, Luis, staff/administration…I absolutely love this 2012 lineup, hah?.
It’s one most hard to beat, though, as benefactors could/should very well have been the Gators or Seminoles (within state)…oh well, too bad Mary! ;-)

    OH2: 6′0″ So-J. Croson
    Setter: 5′8″ Jr-M. Uiato
    MB1: 6′3″ Sr-B.Hewitt
    OH1: 6′2″ Jr-E. Hartong
    Opp: 6′1′ Jr-K. Tuaniga
    MB2: 6′3′ Jr-M. Rodriguez
    Libero: 5′7 Sr-C. Lelepali
    OH4: 5′10″ So-G. Long
    Setter2: 5′8″ So-E. Blake
    MB3: 6′4″ So-J. Vorster
    OH3: 6′3″ Jr-M. Waber
    Opp2: 6′1′ Jr-K. Goodman
    MB4: 6′1′ So-K. Aldopho
    Libero2: 5′8″ So-M. Stauber

    • huh? June 28, 2011 at 1:25 pm

      First A. Walker, now M. Rodriguez…?????
ps. don’t see K. Tuaniga in the starting lineup.

      • Route2, Papaya Loop Ride June 28, 2011 at 2:40 pm

I’m looking toward a passing RS, hah?
Goodman can jump out of the gym, but Kristiana is (perhaps) the better all-around/well rounded player.
Converted MBs make for great blockers on the opp., as well…good when matched up against an opponents power hitter(s).
Can we also agree that height is right where it needs to be additionally?!
Besides which, has there been any word on whether Kaela’s back is entirely healed??? Back injuries are ALWAYS THEE WORST of any injury. Tweak it once and poho. I surely hope that it never happens; no bachi eh?
Can only go on ‘research’ ( ;-) ):
Tuaniga was 2/3 MB @ the start of ’10…only to have dropped to #4 by the end of the season.
        *Math sucks BIG time here
She was to have been reported (by A. Miller) to have had one of, IF not, thee best lateral movement of any on the team…great for middles and opp.’s, hah?
        *Math sucks BIGGER here
It had been commented, before, that during warmups she absolutely crushes the coconut (or KAT-TSU)…to steal a phrase
        *Again, 1+1=3???…hmmmmmmmm.

        • huh? June 28, 2011 at 3:46 pm

FYI Goodman has expierence playing MB during club ball. Thought she was good at it too. I hate to say it but I will… I feel TK is a bust especially being a fab 50 player. I see her playing a similar roll as Jessica Keefe… roll player off the bench. A hard worker but still… not a major contributor.

          • Route2, Papaya Loop Ride June 28, 2011 at 3:50 pm

Piss her off…and see what happens?

          • huh? June 28, 2011 at 4:05 pm

I wish somebody did preferably before every match. pls.

          • Route2, Papaya Loop Ride June 28, 2011 at 4:27 pm

That’s when ‘ladeda’ steps in to do a world class job of it, eh?!
All that needs to be said is something along these lines…
“Next week beginning on Tuesday, I need you to come in @ 6:30a for an hour before class to brush up on your grammar ( ;-) ). I’ll need you to do this three days a week on top of your semester course load; you can take M & Fri off, but it’s for autumn & only for your benefit. Your grades WILL improve or else your time during afternoon practice will be spent shaggin’ balls. At game time, if you don’t comply, I’ll ‘spill the beans’ to HI press (about your desire for rollercoasters rather than US History) and you’ll be sorry.” “I control you girl, don’t toe the line with me. Us midwesterners are so much better with our focus than transplanted, southern Californians.”

*That…then give her the “stink eye” every weekend for impetus. ;-)

          • Just Playin' June 28, 2011 at 9:07 pm

            It’s been two/three years.
Sorry *Kristiana* IF you do read this blog site.
“WILL” should’ve been further emphasized…as in continuing the momentum forward…already done! :-)

Baffoon (whose imaginations get caught up in the vicariously, lived moment)
+My drama teacher would teach about taking on a character most realistically.
++Yet I’m not suggesting that any coach is/be so manipulative either.

  • Cindy Luis June 28, 2011 at 5:57 pm

I don’t think TK has been a bust. She’s had some injuries that put her behind. She does need to work on her footwork.

  • Gosh (ONLY playing)! June 29, 2011 at 8:08 am

Because one’s homegirl has moved into the PAC, because by one’s Sr. year ‘ethnic studies’ will be greatly narrowed into Hawaiiana Studies, because mom/dad want to watch their daughter play on T.V. (@ least some of the time…as one’s starting position was filled with a more prized Fr. recruit out of San Jose)…

    OH2: 6’3″ Jr-M. Waber
    Setter: 5′8″ Jr-M. Uiato
    MB1: 6′3″ Sr-B. Hewitt
    OH1: 6′0″ So-J. Croson
    Opp: 6′1′ Jr-K. Goodman
    MB2: 6′2″ Jr-E. Hartong
    Libero: 5′7″ Sr-C. Lelepali
    OH4: 6’0″ Fr-T. Manu-Olevao
    Setter2: 5′8″ So-M. Stauber
    MB3: 6′1′ Jr-K. Tuaniga
    OH3: 6′0″ Sr-C. Hardin
    Opp2: 5′10″ So-G. Long
    MB4: 6′4″ So-J. Vorster
    Libero2: 5′6″ Sr-E. Maeda

*Probably the most realistic…tho I’ll add, NOT very exciting (IMHO).

    • as many monikers as you June 29, 2011 at 10:32 am

why does it always sound like your talking out of your ass?

      • Ay, you "da kine" hah? July 1, 2011 at 9:35 am

ALWAYS able to tell so by the heart’s ‘disclosure’. ;-)

  • Gosh (ONLY playing)! June 29, 2011 at 8:15 am

    Oh yeah…
Might I say that da ‘returnee’ is pretty hot, also.

  • warriorfan July 3, 2011 at 11:33 am

Jane Croson gets MVP leads her team to the gold medal in 18 open, but Imi Ike gets upset in the 18 National semifinals and gets bronze :( Kalei Adolpho looks good and makes all tournament.

  • Cindy Luis July 3, 2011 at 2:33 pm
